Is this the end?

Many of you already know that we had to cut the trip short due to Chris's knee problems. He was dealing with pain in both of his knees and felt that it would be best to head home and get a little R&R.
After working every scenario over in my head, I decided it would be best if I headed home to decide my next steps in this adventure.
As of now, I'm planning on taking a train to Portland around the 20th of June and riding from there down to San Francisco.

We'll Call it a Hiatus

Aaron mentioned this above, and yes, we are back in Minneapolis due to my knees not doing what I wanted them to do. I'm still feeling good that we rode out to Montana. It was an excellent ride, and we met a lot of kind and interesting people.  The plan now is to ride out on the train in a few weeks to Portland and continue down to San Francisco. Or, maybe Peru. More on this at a later date.

Headed to Montana

We are currently in Sturgis, South Dakota and will be making our way North West toward the North Eastern tip of Wyoming and on to Alzasa, Montana. From there we will be heading West toward Billings via Hwy 212. After yesterdays storms and high winds we are extremely ready to cycle into new territories.
Wish us luck.

Pics

We have been trying to figure out how to upload pics from Chris's Ipad, but haven't figured out how to run the application. As soon as we figure it out, all of you fine people will have the pleasure of seeing our life on the road. So stay tuned.

Twisters! and we're in Sturgis

Has anyone ever seen that movie Twister where those storm chasers follow around all those crazy storms? Well, real people like that passed us on the road today twice. We had heard form many people that there'd be tornado warnings that afternoon. The sky was darkening and the wind got intense. Things started getting hairy as I watched Aaron pedal in front of me at an angle, leaning into the wind so it wouldn't nock him off the road. After deciding to stop messing around we stuck our thumbs out and eventually a most excellent lady named Bonnie and her two grandkids stopped to give us a lift. We piled our bikes and bags in the back of her truck and climbed in. We had pedaled about fifty miles away from Pierre and she took us all the way to Sturgis where we're resting our nerves. This ride put us about three days ahead of schedule and we're okay with that. Maybe some bicycle touring purists would call this cheating, but we thought it best not to get sucked into a cyclone like Dorothy.

A Big What Up to Roosevelt

I just wanted to take a moment to say hi to Ms. Pickens and my students at RHS. Things are great on the road. I've never pedaled so much in all my life. We're in Sturgis, SD hanging out after a bit of a tornado scare and should be in Wyoming and Montana in the next few days, or maybe even tomorrow. I hope everyone's doing well. The coffee is doing me good Kim, thanks.

Day of rest

Pierre, South Dakota
Some 400 miles into our trip.
As many of you can see, I have posted some pics. I know that they are days old, but we haven't been able to connect to the internet since sitting on a bench outside of one of the Mc Donald's of Watertown. I will try and get everything up to date today, but I have been having some problems uploading pics, so it might not happen.
As for my physical state, I'm feeling pretty good. A bit sore in the right knee, but I should be able to stretch and massage that pain out today.
Other things that are on the agenda for our day in Pierre are:
- laundry
- mapping our route into Montana/ Wyoming
- grocery shopping

Tomorrow we will be off to battle hwy 34 West toward Sturgis.
Wish us luck
